Paralympic Winter Games 2026

Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympics: Para alpine, Para cross-country and Para snowboard.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games ran from 6 to 15 March 2026 and are finished. FIS says they were the first Paralympics since it took over Para alpine, Para cross-country and Para snowboard from the IPC. This page gives the IPC's medal table and the champions FIS and the IPC named. How Para skiing is classified and governed is on adaptive and Para skiing.

Status on 24 October 2026

The Games are finished. The IPC gives their dates as 6 to 15 March 2026. Its results page gives the competition windows as 7 to 15 March for Para alpine skiing, 10 to 15 March for Para cross-country and 7 to 13 March for Para snowboard. (The same IPC page prints its archive range as "07 March - 15 February 2026", which is a typo; its header gives 6 to 15 March.)

This page covers the three disciplines FIS governs: Para alpine skiing, Para cross-country skiing and Para snowboard. Para biathlon is governed by the IBU and appears here only inside the IPC's all-sport medal table. The research behind this page did not compile a full event-by-event list of all 58 FIS medal events, so what follows is the medal table, FIS's own figures, and the champions FIS and the IPC chose to name.

Venues

FIS gave the venues as Cortina d'Ampezzo for Para alpine skiing, Val di Fiemme for Para cross-country (the races were at Tesero) and the Cortina Para Snowboard Park for Para snowboard.

From the IPC's results page; the table counts every Paralympic sport, not only the FIS disciplines. An IPC summary seen in search results gives a record 611 athletes from 55 National Paralympic Committees in 79 medal events, with 27 committees winning medals; those figures rest only on that search summary, so they are unconfirmed.

What FIS reported

  • Size: FIS ran 30 Para alpine, 20 Para cross-country and 8 Para snowboard medal events, which it put at about 80% of all Paralympic medals (FIS, 5 March 2026).
  • Governance: FIS says these were the first Paralympic Winter Games since it took over the governance of the three disciplines from the IPC, a transfer that took effect in July 2022 (FIS, 23 March 2026).
  • Nations taking part: FIS's post-Games review counts 53 national ski associations across the three disciplines, four more than the previous record: 43 nations in Para alpine (up from 39), 32 in Para cross-country (up from 26) and 30 in Para snowboard (up from 26).
  • Nations winning medals: 19 in Para alpine, 16 in Para cross-country and 10 in Para snowboard (FIS).
  • Protests: FIS says the juries dealt with two protests and one appeal, and the appeal failed.

How many nations, two FIS figures. Before the Games, on 5 March 2026, FIS said a record 54 countries would take part in Para snow sports. Its review of 23 March 2026 gives 53 national ski associations. The two FIS statements do not agree, and neither explains the difference.

Para alpine skiing (30 events, Cortina d'Ampezzo)

FIS's review of 16 March 2026 says Austria won 13 Para alpine medals and Italy 12. The skiers it named, with their class group and medals:

Rene De Silvestro (ITA)SittingGiant slalomSilver, super combined
Robin Cuche (SUI)StandingDownhill, super-GSilver, giant slalom; bronze, slalom
Audrey Pascual Seco (ESP)SittingSuper-G, super combinedSilver, downhill; bronze, slalom

FIS called Mazzel's super-G Italy's first Para alpine gold of these Games, De Silvestro's giant slalom his first Paralympic title, and noted that Pascual Seco was at her first Games. In the women's slalom, a search summary of a FIS report says Varvara Voronchikhina won the standing class, her second title of the Games, and Zhang Wenjing (CHN) the sitting class, her first Paralympic title. That rests on a search summary, which also does not give Voronchikhina's team, so it is unconfirmed.

Para cross-country skiing (20 events, Tesero)

The IPC says the USA topped the Para cross-country medal table with 8 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze, with Russia second on 5 golds.

  • Jake Adicoff (USA, vision impaired, guided by Peter Wolter): four golds, in the sprint classic, the 10 km interval start, the 20 km interval start free and the mixed 4 x 2.5 km relay (IPC).
  • The USA's mixed relay team: Adicoff, Oksana Masters, Sydney Peterson and Joshua Sweeney (IPC).
  • Oksana Masters (USA, sitting): gold in the sprint classic and the 10 km classic, bronze in the 20 km free, and the relay gold. FIS says she reached 20 Winter Paralympic medals.
  • Sydney Peterson (USA, standing): gold in the 10 km classic and the 20 km free, silver in the sprint classic (FIS).
  • Anastasiia Bagiian (RUS, vision impaired): gold in the sprint classic, the 10 km classic and the 20 km free (FIS).
  • Men's sprint, sitting, 10 March 2026: gold Zixu Liu (CHN), silver Cristian Westemaier Ribera (BRA), bronze Yerbol Khamitov (KAZ). The IPC calls the silver Brazil's first Winter Paralympic medal.
  • Men's 20 km, standing: a Chinese sweep, Wang Chenyang, Huang Lingxin and Liu Xiaobin. FIS says China also won the open relay gold and the mixed relay bronze.

Para snowboard (8 events, Cortina Para Snowboard Park)

  • Emanuel Perathoner (ITA, SB-LL2): gold in banked slalom and in snowboard cross.
  • Jacopo Luchini (ITA, SB-UL): gold in banked slalom.
  • Noah Elliott (USA, SB-LL1): gold in banked slalom, silver in snowboard cross. FIS spells his surname Elliot.
  • Wu Zhongwei (CHN, SB-LL1): gold in snowboard cross.
  • Kate Delson (USA, SB-LL2): gold in banked slalom, silver in snowboard cross.
  • Cecile Hernandez (FRA, SB-LL2): gold in snowboard cross.

All from FIS's review of 16 March 2026. FIS notes that women in the LL1 class competed within the LL2 class at these Games.

What this page does not cover

A full list of all 58 FIS Para medal events, and the Para biathlon results, were not collected in the research behind this page, so they are not given here. For the Olympic Games that came first, see Milano Cortina 2026.
